WI-FI
The WiFi code is 12345678. Wi-Fi reception works throughout the house as well as in the games room. Please be patient as the connection is copper not super fast fibre, due to it not being available.
LOG FIRE
Only dry logs should be burnt. Nothing else should go on the fire except for firelighters and sticks for kindling. The damper handle on the chimney should be in the vertical position for kindling and is best kept in the vertical position throughout for maximum heat. Turning it towards the horizontal restricts the draught. Be careful not to burn your hands on
the fire when opening, or on the chimney which gets hot too. Do not clean out the fire before lighting, simply kindle on top of the previous ashes. The glass doors must be kept shut to avoid accidents and/or the room becoming smoky. There is one refill for the log basket in the green barrow at the back door. The easiest way to re-stock the log basket is to wheel this round o the deck and open the glass door next to the fire. Logs can be bought at the local garage in Carrbridge or in Aviemore.
Big Green Egg
The Big Green Egg Barbecue is there to be used. Please enjoy! We ask that it is used under the carport and not moved from here, this has to do with the difficulty of moving it and the real possibility of damage. There is a Green Egg Cook Book in the house and decent cuts of meat can be purchased from the butcher in Grantown. Legs of Lamb and Rib of Beef both work particularly well, bear in mind for best results purchase decent charcoal and let it cook nice and slowly. Please clean the grill after use.
Downstairs Curtains
The Majority of the downstairs curtains in the main living area, that are not in the bay window, are electric. PLEASE do not pull them or they will break. The button to open and close the curtains are up at head height to one side of the curtain. Just press once and they should close or open all the way. Please make sure chairs etc are not in the way or they catch.
Coffee Machine
An essential part of any kitchen these days. You will be provided with a starter pack of coffee pods. These can be purchased from Tesco in Aviemore.
TV
TV is available in two rooms and the master is the TV in the sitting room this TV gets a variety of channels and of course you can sign in with your own passwords. The other is in the room at the end of the house. There is also a DVD player. The remote controls should be in sight and are checked frequently.
CLEANING
We have an amazing cleaning team that will have been in before you arrive and will come in after you depart, however, if you feel the need to keep the place in order there is a centralised vacuuming system in the house. All you have to do is to plug the “elephant’s tube” (one on each floor), into one of the wall sockets and press the “suck” switch on the handle. There are four sockets, located in the utility room, the lounge, the front hall, the upstairs gallery.
Rubbish
The hole in the kitchen surface leads to the bin. This is not a huge bin for a full house so does need to be emptied frequently. Take your full bin bags up to the red Ritchies bin at the top of the drive and leave in there. We cannot assist with recycling currently but there is a bottle bank opposite the playpark in Carrbridge or in the Tesco’s car park in Aviemore. If you have other bits and pieces to recycle, Ritchies has a recycling centre which is next door to the go-kart track on the road to Aviemore.
