Carrbridge

The Cairn Hotel, located on the main road in between the Old Bridge and Landmark in the village, serves good food and a friendly pint. There is a pool table and an open fire. Kids are welcome as are dogs. Well worth a visit. https://cairnhotel.co.uk/

The Carrbridge Hotel on the corner opposite the garage and Old Bridge is a larger establishment that caters for coach parties and offers a perfectly nice place to eat or drink but doesn’t really have the same kind of atmosphere as The Cairn. www.carrbridgehotel.com/

The Carrbridge Kitchen, opposite the village shop offers sumptuous breakfast a large range for lunch and is also open for dinner most nights. Its licensed with a decent selection of wine and beer as well as doing BYO. Boat of Garten

The Boat Hotel (or The Boat Country Inn and Restaurant – to give it its full name) has recently been refurbished and offers good food in both its dining room as well as a pub meal. There is a decent amount of seating outside and is a great place for lunch on a warmer day. It also makes a great place to cycle to from the house for an evening pint as you are on a cycle track for the majority of it. www.boathotel.co.uk/

Andersons is a great spot for dinner. Since COVID there has been a bit of confusion as to whether it will re-open but if it is open its worth visiting for dinner. You will need to book. Aviemore

The Old Bridge Inn – An Aviemore icon that has stood the test of time and is still churning out excellent food with good atmosphere. Its set right on the banks of the Spey and in more recent times they have created covered areas in the old car park to offer shelter for drinkers/families. Plenty of room for kids to run about and enjoy themselves. Good for lunch or dinner. www.oldbridgeinn.co.uk/

La Taverna High Range – Another icon that has been here for a long time. In the pre-covid years they used to specialise in a delicious all you can eat buffet which was popular with kids and adults alike. With that now gone, traditional and excellent Italian pizza and pasta still served a la carte. You will need to book with a few days notice as this place is always busy. www.latavernaaviemore.com/

Ski-ing Do – Located up near the post office this small restaurant has been serving a variety of dishes ranging from hearty pastas to large steaks since the 1980’s. Good fun and a typical apres-ski type feel, particularly as they have the Do-Below Bar downstairs. www.ski-ingdoo.com/

The Winking Owl – A pub that has set itself up to be called all sorts of things over the years. It has now been taken over by the Cairngorm brewery and offers good hearty food upstairs and a cosy den style bar downstairs. http://thewinkingowl.co/

The Vault – Aviemore’s late night bar & discoteque. Located in the old public lavatories just across the road from Tesco’s this intimate night club is a small late night drinking and dancing venue, just be careful whilst throwing the shapes as there’s not much room! www.facebook.com/vaultaviemore

Smiffy’s Fish and Chip Shop – Smiffy’s was established in 1981, situated in the centre of Aviemore. Offers a wide variety of hot foods, ice cream. https://smiffys.business.site/

Cairngorm Hotel – Aviemore’s premiere independent hotel, with a lively lounge bar, restaurant. Live entertainment daily, with a vast choice of meals served. Opposite the station and can be difficult to get a table. https://cairngorm.com/restaurant-bar/

Rowan Tree Country Hotel and restaurant – Located on the south side of Aviemore on the way to Insh and Kincraig, this hotel and restaurant has recently changed hands (2019) and whilst we haven’t visited it the reviews have been good. Its a just a bit out of the way. www.rowantreehotel.com/

Spey Burger Restaurant – A gourmet burger restaurant situated in the Macdonald Aviemore Hotel on the resort. Spey Burger
